The Glial Pathology lab

We have two primary interconnected goals:

  1. Find cures for glioblastoma

  2. Find cures for neurodegenerative diseases, especially Huntington's disease

By understanding the common pathologic pathways in glial cells that become dysfunctional in neurodegeneration and neoplasia, we will aim to find glial-based cures for these diseases

Our research lab focuses on groundbreaking projects developed around patient-relevant disease models and patient-derived neuropathologically annotated tissue.  By tethering our research to what happens in human disease, we will push the boundaries of science to help patients.

We are based in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University.

The glial-pathology lab is led by Dr. Osama Al-Dalahmah, a board-certified neuropathologist and glial biologist whose goal is to find cures for glioblastoma and neurodegeneration.
